Mark Smith

Biography:
Mr. Smith has been teaching Computer Systems Technology, A+, Net+ certifications, and Linux to high school students for the last ten years. He currently holds a technology teaching license with the state of Virginia. He has held teaching positions at The Pruden Center for Industry and Technology in Suffolk, VA and Jackson River Technical Center in Covington, VA. He has been a SkillsUSA member and student advisor during this time. Several of his students have competed on the state and national levels in Computer Maintenance Technology. Many of his students have gained A+ and Net+ certifications and have gone on to successful careers in the computer technology and IT fields.
Mr. Smith has extensive technology expertise gained from his years of military and industry training. This includes six years of military service in the US Navy as part of the Atlantic Submarine Force. As a member of the Special Weapons Division aboard the USS L.Y. Spear, he tested, repaired, assembled, and supplied submarine weapons systems. He has worked as a Lead Technician/Irate Customer Liaison for Cox Cable of Tidewater and Lipton Tea as a technician/mechanic in their Suffolk plant. He has 38+ years of mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical experience with 28+ years of computer technology expertise. He is the former owner of M.S. Enterprises and holds a CompTIA A+ certification. Mr. Smith has a bachelor's degree in Business Management and is currently working on a master's degree in Educational Technology and Adult Education.
