· Mr. Beirne welcomed everyone and called the meeting to order at 9:05am.
· Mr. Beirne talked about industry certification/credentialing. He went over the list of Industry certification, and credential tests that JRTC students took last year (ASE, A+, Nurse Aide, and NOCTI Welding). Mr. Beirne also mentioned additional testing that we plan give this year (NOCTI Early Childhood, NOCTI Carpentry, NOCTI Culinary Arts, ASK Marketing. MOS Word).
· Mr. Spangler gave a report on the JRTC enrollment. The Enrollment was broken down into enrollments for each school as well as a total JRTC enrollment per semester. JRTC has 30 more students enrolled this year than were enrolled last year at this time.
· Mr. Beirne gave out a list of classes that JRTC is offering for dual enrollment with DSLCC. Mr. Beirne is also looking into dual enrollments with other community colleges for our auto, carpentry and building trades classes. DSLCC will sign students up for the classes next week.
· Mr. Beirne gave a hand out with the enrollment numbers for alternative education.
· The committee members discussed how the alternative education program has worked to help students catch up and cut down on the dropout rate.
· Mr. Beirne started a discussion on ETC and the work load that they have. One request given to the committee is the need for help at the schools with transporting the computers and materials where it is needed. The technicians are wasting valuable time getting the equipment to the rooms. They could be using this time working with the equipment. The committee discussed the need for more help in ETC. The committee recommended the addition of another technician and a secretary for ETC to help with all the paperwork.
· Mr. Beirne presented a hand out with the JRTC Two-Hour Delay Schedule. JRTC will start with second block at 10:30 and run until 11:45. Covington’s first block will stay at CHS and the second block will arrive at 10:30 instead of 10:00. Alleghany will keep the first block students at AHS and send the second block students to JRTC at 11:05. Third block will be on regular schedule.
· Next meeting date is set for November 1, 2007 at 11:45pm.
· The meeting was adjourned at 9:30am.
Respectfully submitted
