JOINT BOARD OF CONTROL
JACKSON RIVER TECHNICAL CENTER
Record of Meeting
January 19, 2010
The following members of the Joint Board of Control were in attendance:
Cindy Bryant, Chairman Covington City Schools
Danny Warlitner, Vice Chairman Covington City Schools
Also present were Dr. Sarah Campbell, Superintendent of Alleghany County Schools; Mr. Glenn Spangler, Director; and Ms. Christy Craft, Deputy Clerk.
Ms.Cindy Bryant called the meeting to order at 12:50 pm and led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.
ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS (10-26):
Nurse Aide Clinicals. Mr. Spangler told the Board that the third level health assistant class would be beginning clinical rotations starting this Friday.
Semester Change. Mr. Spangler noted that we had a good end of the first semester and that things were in place for the second semester to begin.
Marketing/Sports Marketing Students Radio Spots. Mr. Spangler informed the Board that Mr. Strand’s Marketing and Sports Marketing students had written and recorded anti-drug and alcohol commercials to be aired on the local radio stations sometime within the next two weeks.
Mr. Warlitner made a request that, given the current budget crisis affecting both school systems, preliminary budget information be presented to the Board at the next meeting for review. Dr. Campbell agreed that she would also like to be able to review the budget with the Board.
Due to the lack of a quorum, no business was conducted. Those present requested that Mr. Spangler poll Board members for the following items:
Approve HOSA State Conference field trip
Pay Bills
The meeting was adjourned at 1:06 pm.
